I am reading a book by J.B. Priestley called 'Saturn over the Water'. It is a story of a post war era British Painter. The thing which struck me as a curiosity is the painter believes his paintings would have fetched a good price than they are now if he would have been a French by birth. This clearly shows the Western mindset towards arts that French originality must assume elite and expensive positions.
